Lighting control systems increase the illumination comfort and save energy - e.g. if the daylight is considered as well. Control systems include all systems, which are not only the normal rigid "On/Off" systems. With control systems the lighting can be managed and are therefore instruments of the lighting management. Operations like pressing a key to switch on the lights or set a desired lighting scenario on the computer are "Control" functions. "Regulating" lighting systems is carried out in so called regulation processes, where certain informations are being processed and certain parameters are being considered. An example is the consideration of daylighting, where the amount of daylight falling into a room is considered and a command is sent to the lighting system to illuminate areas of a room, where the daylight is not enough for adequate illumination.
