Long gone are the days when there were light bulbs (incandescent) and that's it. The large collective term illuminant nowadays describes so many different light sources such as halogen lamps for an especially intense light output, LED lights for the long-life lighting and energy saving lamps for the economical continuous lighting, metal halide lamps and of course the classic fluorescent lamps. And these are only the best known and most commonly used lamp. Not very clear is the family of lamps with different bases/sockets of each lamp types. Depending on the light bulb you need illuminants with a screw cap, with pin or bayonet socket etc.
